Buy its components
Hardware
Steps
Mounting type
If you want to mount it yourself, then you can buy all the components separately, on one or more platforms (c.f.: Amazon, TopAchat, etc.)
- /!\ The total financial gain is at least 15 to 20 percent!
CPU
Regarding INTEL, processors that do not have a graphics part have the letter "F" at the end of the name
Regarding AMD, processors with a graphics part have the letter "G" at the end of the name
- /!\ If your CPU does not have a graphics part, you must have a GPU to be able to start!
- > The choice of the latter is based on several criteria, including that of its user:
If you ONLY want to play games, Single Core performance is most important, so INTEL is slightly better placed
If you want to play games and do something else greedy (video editing, emulation, etc.), the performance of the Multi Core is the most important, so AMD is widely better placed
- > But also the desired rendering:
If the desired resolution is 1080p (or lower), the FPS are Bottleneck by the CPU, the performance of the Single Core is the most important, so INTEL is slightly better placed
If the desired resolution is 1440p (or higher), the FPS are Bottleneck by the GPU, the performance of the Single Core no longer comes into account
- /!\ This part is sensitive, so remember to help you compare, benchmark, test video in conditions, etc
Ventirad / AIO
For normal use, the basic one supplied with the CPU will suffice
But if you want to OC your CPU, then you have to put a more powerful Ventirad (the best are from the Noctua brand because of their fans), or even an AIO (the larger the radiator and the larger the cooled surface)
You have of course a third solution, largely more expensive and efficient, namely the AIO Custom (so you have to create it yourself) throughout the Tower
- /!\ If there is a Ventirad, pay attention to the height of the RAM modules, because you may be limited and therefore forced to take Low Profile
Motherboard
Depending on your needs, you must pay attention to the available connectors (SATA, M.2, RAM slots, etc.), the maximum amount and frequency of RAM supported, the size of the BIOS ROM (so that the latter can be updated), etc
- /!\ Several formats exist (the most used is ATX), be careful with compatibility with your Tour!
RAM
Regarding INTEL, the most important is the performance index (Frequency / CAS), the higher the better
Regarding AMD, the most important is the frequency, the higher the better (the optimal value is 3600 MHz for the Ryzen 3)
Power Supply
- > There are two things to check:
"80+ Bronze" certification (minimum required)
The power of 450W (minimum for a normal GPU) or 750W (if your GPU is powerful)
- /!\ Consider looking at promotions, as you could get better certification for the same price, like Silver, Gold, Platinium or Titanium!
Graphics card (GPU)
For normal use, it will not be necessary (if your CPU has a graphics part), but if you have a strong graphic use (emulation, video editing, etc.), intensive or even that you want to play (FPS, AAA, etc.), then you must have them according to your needs (eg: the number of FPS desired, the desired resulation, etc.)
- /!\ This part is sensitive, so remember to help you compare, benchmark, test video in conditions, etc
SLI / Crossfire (GPU)
It is no longer recommended since around 2016, because there are too many negatives for almost no positives
Not all games are compatible
The motherboard must be compatible with
We need a bigger diet
More heat released
The total noise level is higher
Potential micro-stuttering and driver issues
With current prices, is not cheaper
Regarding NVidia, you need two cards with the same GPU (see the same model to avoid any problems)
Regarding AMD, you need two cards of the same architecture (a little more flexible)
- /!\ The memory is not added and is limited to the lowest!
It is therefore easy to understand that it is much better to take a higher-end graphics card
HHD / SSD
SSD: To install the OS and software (c.f.: minimum 500GB) because it is very fast but expensive
- > There are two variants of the SSD:
If your CM has an M.2 port, then prefer the M.2 SSD for space saving in the Tower and ease of installation
There is an NVme version of the latter, allowing much higher speeds, but is only useful and used during photo and video editing at the moment
HDD: To store large quantities of content, such as photos, videos, documents and other that you do not want to access often (c.f.: minimum 2TB) because it is quite slow but not expensive
- /!\ The SSD is insensitive to shocks!
CD / DVD reader / writer
This part is no longer mandatory and therefore almost no longer present on most PCs, you can put one but it will only limit the choice of Cases
Case
- > To facilitate cable management (if you do so), allow GPU upgrades in the future or just to make it look nicer (because more space), you will need either:
A medium / large Case
Fans supplied
Airflow
- /!\ Remember to look at the connectors available on the front / roof and the quality of the materials, depending on your needs!
Fans
It is strongly advised to take models with a strong static pressure to allow to send a huge air flow, and leave the possibility of setting up a positive airflow system
If your Motherboard has enough compatible port, it will be necessary to take them in PWM to control the speed of rotation to make everything very quiet when necessary, but very effective when necessary
Screen
The base is a 24 inch with a resolution of 1080p to enjoy a beautiful screen and beautiful color, all in a nice size
If you want to play or have a better rendering, recommend a minimum of 27 inches with a resolution of 1440p
- /!\ You have other criteria depending on your needs, such as the refresh frequency (100hz / 120hz / 144hz especially if you play FPS), 4K (resolution twice as large as the 1440p, but not available in more than 60hz), the Low Blue Light (to reduce the harmful blue color), the curvature (the optimal value is 1800R), etc
